If someone were to ask me if I would recommend a HP computer to them, I would say "RUN!!! Don't look back. Don't get an HP! Especially a Compaq Presario PC." Why? Well, this week has been a joyride to say it in nice terms. The display driver crashed. I had it reinstalled. Twice. Brought it home. Two days later, it will not even recognize that there is even a disc in the drive.
So I call the 1-800 #. Of course I get some worker in India that I can barely understand. This is 2:30 yesterday. At 5:30 we have ran every test they can, my computer wouldn't let them take over control, I had taken apart the tower to unplug/replug wires, and had to do the whole recovery program thing (which resulted in lost emails, and general aggravation) and then I am told what I said at 2:30..."The cd drive is not working at all". Well, DUH! Isn't that what I said 3 HOURS AGO! She then tells me to IMMEDIATELY call back and ask to speak with a supervisor so that they can order a new drive. I do.
This is 5:45. I get a new rep. I tell him my ticket #. He pulls up the info, goes through his spill, and I ask to speak to a supervisor. He asks me to wait "a moment" so he can document the case. 6:15 I am told that the supervisor will call me back WITHIN 30 minutes. I was not suppose to call back. I said, well the ladie told me to immediatley call back. Nope. Wrong information. She is in a different area (meaning---she is in another area of India). Remember that during all this, the kids are starving, I haven't been able to even think of cooking. So I send Donnie to Acme to do something I hate...pick up microwavable dinners. YUCK! But in a pinch it works!
Now it is 7:30. I still haven't heard from a supervisor. So I call back. I am not nice at this point. I give my ticket # to the next out-sourced worker. Then he says "Please, wait a moment while I document your case." I went off. Seriously, the poor guy didn't know what was coming. I informed him (not nicely) "that the problem had been documented several times over, I was told to wait for a phone call from the supervisor that I never received, and if he didn't IMMEDIATELY put his supervisor on the line, I would find another # to call, and then maybe I would get some answers as to why I have a computer that has crashed 6 times in 9 months." I finally got a supervisor. Amen Hallelujiah!
I am now informed by the supervisor that the call was scheduled for 30 minutes from then. WTF?! Why the hell would I be waiting on a call from HP at 8 pm?! Especially when this crap was started at 2:30!!!! End results of the HP nightmare, someone will be here between 8-12 Wed. (yeah, the day we leave to go out of town for Thanksgiving) to install the new drive that fingers crossed will have arrived at my house by then. Wonderful right?!
In the end, I felt like HP didn't much care about me or my computer. Only when I told them that I was a product reviewer and would be posting this experience on my website did I get any reaction out of them. I will NEVER buy another HP computer. I am stuck with this piece of junk till I save up for my MAC though.
